Elf Family Movie Night

Sharing is caring!

Add an Elf Family Movie Night to your Christmas traditions, with fun themed snacks! Buddy the Elf is a character your family will enjoy year after year!

It’s a tradition at my house to watch Elf each year at Christmastime.  According to my oldest, our Christmas Eve tradition is to go snowboarding and come home and watch Elf (if it happens once, this kiddo decides it’s a tradition).

Elf is a wonderful family movie, filled with themes of the importance of family, spreading cheer, and helping others.

This post is part of the Festive Christmas Ideas blog hop!  Find out more about that here, or continue scrollling to find out how to make your own Elf Family Movie Night!

Welcome back to year 6 of our Festive Christmas Event where we team up with a bunch of talented blogging friends to bring you a plethora of creative ways to celebrate your holiday season.

We will be baking some cookie recipes for you, sharing some party games, making some handmade gifts, doing some ornament crafting, and sharing our Christmas movies family fun. There will be breakfast recipes and as always our decorated Christmas Trees which is always a fun tour of homes.

New this year is Gift Guides (check out this Educational Gift Guide for Elementary Kids or this Gift Guide for Homesteaders or this Gift Guide for the Craft Lover or this Chicken Lady Gift Guide). We are right there with you shopping from home due to Covid 19, and we understand how hard that can be so we have been busy little Elves doing tons of research to create fabulous Gift Guides to help you with your holiday shopping.

How to Throw an Elf Family Movie Night:

To make the Elf Family Movie Night more involved than just watching the movie, we’re adding some fun themed snacks to make it a party!  According to Buddy the Elf, the four main food groups for elves are: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup.

If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know that Buddy puts maple syrup on pretty much everything, so we couldn’t pass up some recipes with maple syrup (in fact, I may have gotten a little carried away with the maple syrup ideas).

For dinner, have spaghetti, and if you’re brave, add a little maple syrup like Buddy the Elf does!  Then follow up dinner with snacks and drinks, while watching the movie.

Caramelized Maple Fudge with Pecans is a delicious, rich dessert, full of bold maple flavor, and sweetened entirely with maple syrup.

Maple Caramel Corn with candy corn is a great snack recipe that is perfect for Elf movie showings, but it’s perfect for fall as well!

What Elf family movie night would be complete without a cup of the World’s Best coffee (if you haven’t seen the show, it’s a funny part) for the adults, and a Maple Steamer for the kids.

***Elf Content Heads Up***

There are several cuss words in the movie, and at one point Buddy the Elf mistakenly gives lingerie to his biological father, and gets drunk in one part.  While these scenes may stop some families from wanting to watch the movie (and I include those warnings in case those are deal breakers for you), it is a truly heartwarming, sweet show that we enjoy having as part of our Christmas traditions.

I hope you’ll enjoy these ideas for an Elf Family Movie Night!  Have a Merry Christmas!
