Find fun but educational gifts for your elementary students this Christmas with this gift guide! Covering a variety of subjects, from engineering, to architecture, to botany, and more, you’re sure to find a fabulous gift your child will love!
It’s always wonderful when holiday gifts can be something useful, something educational, something that’s not just “stuff.” Sometimes it’s harder to figure out what good educational gifts would be, however. In order to help you out, I’ve put together this education gift guide for elementary students, with some of the favorite educational gifts my kids (or my friends’ kids) have received.
Important note about buying Educational Gifts this year:
If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to be prepared ahead of time (I’m never going to run low on toilet paper or canning lids again!). Things have been getting sold out, backordered, and unavailable all year long, and it’s typically really random things. I recommend that this year, you don’t leave the Christmas shopping until the last minute, just in case. I am already buying Christmas presents, so that we are prepared in case things end up on backorder. I know it seems early to be thinking about Christmas, but you’ll be thrilled to have the last minute stress out of the way, even if no shortages end up happening, so buy soon!
Welcome back to year 6 of our Festive Christmas Event where we team up with a bunch of talented blogging friends to bring you a plethora of creative ways to celebrate your holiday season. (You can find last year’s fun collection here.)
We will be baking some cookie recipes for you, sharing some party games, making some handmade gifts, doing some ornament crafting, and sharing our Christmas movies family fun. There will be breakfast recipes and as always our decorated Christmas Trees which is always a fun tour of homes.
New this year is Gift Guides. We are right there with you, shopping from home due to Covid 19, and we understand how hard that can be so we have been busy little Elves doing tons of research to create fabulous Gift Guides to help you with your holiday shopping.
You will find new ideas every Monday and Wednesday between Oct. 19th through Nov. 18th. Scroll all the way down to find all the ideas linked at the end.
If you shop through the links below I’ll earn a commission at no additional cost to you. It helps support my blog so I can bring you more quality content.

Paint by Sticker Masterpieces: Re-create 12 Iconic Artworks One Sticker at a Time!
Paint by Sticker books have been a huge hit with my kids. In fact, one of my kids came to me the other day and said how much he hoped to get a new one for Christmas! And this one includes 12 famous pieces of artwork, so it can count for art class for the day!

Bicycle Jumbo Playing Cards, Pack of 2
I know, I know, decks of cards doesn't seem like that exciting of a gift. However, they make a fabulous stocking stuffer, and so much can be learned through card games. Kids can learn counting, matching, following directions, and- most important- good sportsmanship.

Elenco Snap Circuits Jr. SC-100
We started out with a Snap Circuits Jr kit for my son when he was about 5. It has been a huge hit, and has held up to his sometimes rough use. It's definitely built well, and has many options of what kids can do with it. And it's not just for boys, my daughters love playing with it as well.

Snap Circuits Classic SC-300 Electronics Exploration Kit
If your child is a little older (8 or so), you will probably want to go straight for the regular starter kit, rather than the Jr kit. With over 300 projects, this kit will keep your kids busy for hours of education fun.

Retro Pirate Telescope Spyglass & Survival Gear Compass
Your adventurer will love this spyglass and compass combination. Younger students can have hours of fun scoping out their surroundings, and learning through pretend play. Pair the compass with the following book for older students.

Eyeskey Multifunctional Military Metal Sighting Navigation Compass with Inclinometer | Impact Resistant & Waterproof
If you've got a little older or more responsible child, a nicer compass like this one might be better. Especially when paired with the following book.

Wilderness Navigation: Finding Your Way Using Map, Compass, Altimeter & GPS, 3rd Edition (Mountaineers Outdoor Basics)
This Wilderness Navigation book is the official navigation textbook used in outdoor education courses by thousands of students. Help your child learn to navigate the outdoors using maps and a compass!

Thames & Kosmos Candy Chemistry
Introduce your child to chemistry by making rock Candy, chocolates, gummy Bears, wintergreen candies, and more. Learn about specific heat and temperature, crystallization, measurements and conversions, volume, and weight

The Bluest of Blues: Anna Atkins and the First Book of Photographs
Learn about Anna Atkins, the first person to publish a book of photography. Atkins was a female botanist who used cyanotype photography to share her findings. Put this book together with the sun paper listed next, and let your child try their hand at cyanotype photography, too.

Elenco Teach Tech “Mech-5”, Programmable Mechanical Robot Coding Kit, STEM Building Toy for Kids 10+
For those kids who are interested in building and coding, this programmable robot looks like so much fun!

IQ Challenge Set by GamieUSA - 7 Pcs Kids Educational Toys
Although this is a very basic gift, these will challenge your child's brain, as they attempt to solve the puzzles.

Engino Discovering STEM Simple Machines Mechanisms That Multiply Force
For the child who is interested in engineering, this kit is packed full of educational fun! Build 60 working models such as a Scissor Lift, Catapult, Helicopter, Vise, Wind Mill and many more. Engino also includes information such as theories, experiments, facts, and quizzes with all of their kits.

Engino Discovering STEM Botanic Laboratory | Build A Greenhouse
For the budding botanist, this kit lets them build a working 14-1/2” x 9-1/2” x 13-1/2” clear plastic greenhouse with a gear-driven window, along with 3 more projects!

Skillmatics Educational Game: Brain Games | Erasable and Reusable Activity Mats |
My kids love kits like this. They get hours of educational fun from them!

Mega Fossil Dig Kit – Excavate 15 Real Fossils
When I was in 5th grade, I wanted to be an archaeologist. I know this fossil dig kit would have been a dream come true for me!

Who Was? and What Is? America Collection Boxed Set 25 books
My kids all love the Who Was books. This set covers a large variety of people and events.

Engino Architecture Set- Eiffel Tower & Sydney Bridge Construction Set
Perhaps your child has an aptitude towards architecture. If that's the case, they're going to love building a 59" tall Eiffel Tower, and a 56" long Sydney Bridge!

Orion 8944 SkyQuest XT6 Classic Dobsonian Telescope
While this is a bit higher priced present than the others, this Dobsonian telescope is easy enough to use for a beginner, but nice enough to last your child for years to come! In fact, it was recommended by another homeschool mom who is really into astronomy, as a telescope that even adults would want to use.

365 Starry Nights : An Introduction to Astronomy for Every Night of the Year
Whether your family has a nice telescope, or just a pair of binoculars (or even just the naked eye), 365 Starry Nights gives your child something to look for in the night sky every single night of the year!
I hope you’ve found some ideas that will work for you kids in this list of education gifts. It was so hard to keep it to a small list, because there are really so many amazing products out there these days! I attempted to cover a large variety of interests, from art, to STEM, and everything in between.
