Is Cream Cheese a Good Substitute for Butter in Cookies?

Butter can be substituted for cream cheese in a lot of cookie recipes. But you know what’s even better?  To use both cream cheese and butter in a cookie recipe!  The addition of cream cheese to these chocolate chip cream cheese cookies makes them rich and soft.

Because cream cheese makes such delicious cookies, we’ve made several of our other cookie recipes using it.  Check out our Soft Snickerdoodle Cookies, our Chai Latte Cookies, and our Christmas Sprinkle Cookies.

Do you have to refrigerate cookies made with cream cheese?

Food service rules will usually require any item made with cream cheese to be refrigerated.  That said, we didn’t refrigerate these cookies, and they didn’t go bad before they were all eaten.
