Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting: The perfect frosting for the holiday season, and every Christmas recipe! Plus, a $175 Amazon Gift Card giveaway!
Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting is simple to make, but packed full of flavor. It combines well with chocolate, white chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, coconut, or red velvet.
I love the combination of the peppermint with the cream cheese. I am a huge cream cheese frosting fan. I feel like the cream cheese adds a depth of flavor in frostings that you just can’t get with a buttercream. I also feel like cream cheese frosting tends to be a little less sweet than buttercream, and I prefer that.
Do you have to refrigerate something made with Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting?
Yes. Anything with cream cheese frosting should be put in the fridge, to keep it from spoiling. Any extra frosting should also be refrigerated, and then brought back to room temperature before using to frost an item.
While peppermint cream cheese frosting likely has enough sugar in it to keep the frosting from going bad, I prefer not to take the risk. When in doubt, refrigerate.
What can I do with leftover Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting?
What a lovely problem to have! We used our frosting to frost these tasty Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies.
Leftover peppermint cream cheese frosting is also delicious with graham crackers (especially chocolate graham crackers!). You can use it to dip marshmallows or fruit in, or you can even eat it by the spoonful.
