Rustic Christmas Decor Tutorial
I love really simple, rustic Christmas decor. I’m just not a showy, lights and production type of person, so when Plaid sent me this huge box of crafting supplies, I decided to stick with simple.
I’ve long wanted a wood burning kit, but just never really got around to purchasing one. So as soon as I saw that it was included, I knew that I wanted to incorporate it into my project.
I decided that the dark wood burned look would look great with a pop of gold, and I love how it turned out!
I used the transfer point that comes with the wood burning kit to transfer the image onto the wood. Included here is a template you can print out to use for this. It will print out backwards, so that when you lay it down on the wood and use the transfer point, the words will come out the right direction. I also included the words “Noel, Noel” if you’d like those on your sign, or you can cut off that section and just transfer the last part, like I did.
Once the image was transferred, I used the flow point to trace each word. I then filled in most of the words using the flow point, and used this Martha Stewart gold paint to paint the word King, as well as the crown.
After painting the word King, I decided I wanted the word more defined, so I went back and wood burned around the edges of the gold. For the crown, I outlined the crown with the wood burner first, and then filled in with gold paint.
So simple it probably took me an hour to make, but putting it up on my mantle, it just makes me so happy! It’s perfect! Just the perfect combination of simplicity with the pretty pop of gold. This is my favorite rustic Christmas decor I’ve made yet!
