Berry Covered Pavlova is an elegant looking dessert, drenched in roasted strawberry vanilla bean sauce.
Many of you know that I recently attended the Everything Food Conference for bloggers. If you follow me on Instagram, I shared some of the food we got to cook as well as eat. It is a super fun conference to attend, and I learn so much there as well!
This year I participated in a hands on photography class with Kayley McCabe from The Kitchen McCabe. I just think that Kayley takes some of the most beautiful pictures of food I’ve ever seen! To top that off, she’s also really sweet!
Kayley brought a bunch of pavlova that she had made, to let us practice our food styling and food photography. I feel like food styling is where I really struggle. Some people make it look so natural, but figuring out what to put in my pictures, what backgrounds to use, where to place things, etc, is really hard for me!
I did have a lovely time trying to figure it out, and I hope that it translates into my photography in the future. As I was going through my pictures of the berry covered pavlova, I found some that I thought looked really delicious, so I wanted to share them with you! This exercise also showed me that I tend to shoot my subject to one side. Or at least, those are the pics I tend to like and use. So that’s another area where I can push myself to try new things!
Here’s the recipe for Kayley’s pavlova, along with the roasted strawberry vanilla bean sauce and rosewater cream. Doesn’t that make you almost start drooling just thinking of the combination of flavors?
I really don’t think you can go wrong with roasted strawberries on pretty much anything! Kayley brought a bunch of different berries, plates, backgrounds, and fresh flowers (she uses a lot of flowers in her photography).
I tried my hand at shooting raspberries and blackberries, since I don’t work with either of those as much as I do with strawberries. However, my pavlova has the strawberry sauce all over it still. Yum!
If you love strawberries, too, you’ll want to check out my Fresh Strawberry Bars. They are heavenly!
This recipe includes: Strawberries, Blackberries, Raspberries, Egg Whites, Vanilla Beans, & Whipping Cream.
